What it means for communities
Overview
Bell is continuing a multi‑year investment to expand and enhance its wireless network across Canada. These upgrades improve both coverage (reaching more places) and capacity (handling more demand), helping strengthen reliable connectivity in the communities where Canadians live, work and travel.
Why this matters
Wireless demand continues to grow as Canadians rely more on mobile connectivity for work, travel and everyday life. This is especially evident in rural, recreational and travel destinations, where seasonal demand can increase significantly.
Reliable wireless connectivity is also essential community infrastructure. It supports emergency response and public safety, enables local businesses to operate and grow, and helps communities stay connected during periods of high demand.
As usage patterns continue to evolve, ongoing network investment helps ensure communities have access to reliable connectivity—both day‑to‑day and during peak periods.
What Bell is doing
Bell’s network investment program focuses on:
- Adding new sites in select communities to improve coverage and fill gaps
- Enhancing existing sites to increase capacity and performance through 4G and 5G upgrades
- Modernizing the network to improve reliability and reduce congestion
Impact at the community level
In communities where upgrades are complete, residents and businesses can benefit from:
- Fast and more reliable connectivity
- Improved network performance during busy periods
- Better support for mobile work, travel and local industries, as well as essential and public safety services.
Working with partners
Bell works with municipal and provincial partners to expand connectivity in harder‑to‑serve areas, including through infrastructure partnerships and funding programs.

Progress to date
Bell is continuing to expand and enhance its wireless network across Canada, with ongoing investments focused on strengthening coverage and increasing capacity in communities where demand is growing.
As of May 2026, since start of the program in 2024, Bell has:
- Completed 167 new wireless site builds in 76 communities
- Enhanced 349 existing sites to improve network capacity and performance in 50 communities across the country
- Over 600,000 labour hours planning and installing upgrades and new towers (that’s over 72 years!)
Today, Bell's wireless network provides coverage to over 99 per cent of the population, with 89 per cent of the population having access to 5G/5G+ services.

FAQ
Wireless demand continues to grow, particularly in high‑traffic and rural areas. These investments help improve performance, reliability and customer experience.
Where upgrades are complete, residents and businesses can benefit from improved connectivity, particularly during peak usage periods. Reliable wireless connectivity also supports essential services, including public safety and emergency response, helping communities stay connected when it matters most.
Both. Bell’s program includes new site builds to improve coverage and upgrades to existing infrastructure to increase capacity.
Seasonal demand—especially in travel and recreational areas—can increase sharply. While investments improve performance, short‑term congestion can still occur during peak periods.
