Your new dial telephone

In 1924, Bell introduced dial service in Montréal and Toronto, enabling customers to complete a call without the help of the operator.
To ensure customers were able to use the new system, Bell organized an extensive advertising campaign. Users needed to learn how to operate the rotary dial, search in the directory and recognize various dial tones.
Bell team members also gave public demonstrations and called customers to advise them of the change. The film "Your New Dial Telephone" was shown in local theatres prior to the introduction of the service.
