Bell Mobility launches Windows Phone 7 powered LG Optimus Quantum
MONTRÉAL, October 12, 2010 Bell Mobility, LG and Microsoft Corporation today announced the future
availability of the LG Optimus Quantum, a Windows Phone 7 smartphone operating on the HSPA+ network
and exclusively available from Bell Mobility. It will be the first Windows Phone 7 device to offer both a 3.5
inch touch screen and a full keyboard in the Canadian market.
Bell Mobility clients have access to the most innovative devices available, and the exclusive LG Optimus
Quantum powered by Windows Phone 7 with integrated access to the best Microsoftpowered services,
which operates on the fastest and largest wireless network in Canada is sure to keep our clients productive,
entertained and connected through their work day and social life, said Adel Bazerghi, Bell Mobilitys Senior
Vice President of Products.
The LG Optimus Quantum is built on Microsofts new OS, Window Phone 7, with a simple userinterface
and gesture-based navigation. For a truly innovative glance and go experience, active tiles on the home
screen including email, text and social network updates - are constantly updated to let the user see whats
going on in their favourite services without having to open the apps. One touch access to Bing enables fast
searching for everything from topics of interest to locations and more, right from the home screen.
In addition to a redesigned user interface and home screen, the way users interact with their applications
has also been completely overhauled. Hubs provide a complete view of services and features grouped by
topic including Xbox, People, Office music and videos, pictures and Microsoft Marketplace.
The Games hub with Xbox live features a catalogue of more than 50 games at launch with mobile-
to-console interactivity, and integration with Xbox Live records all game levels, credits and achievements
from the phone, console and online. Clients can invite friends to play games, enjoy some of their favourite
titles like Assassins Creed and Crackdown 2: Project Sunburst, and keep up with the latest gaming news
on one of Xboxs most popular franchises with Halo Waypoint. There will also be exclusive games available
only for Windows Phone 7.
The People hub automatically brings together contacts saved to the device, Facebook and Windows Live
friends. Users can skim feeds, call, text or post to friends, or update their status or profile picture, all from
one central location.
The Music and Video hub brings together all songs, playlists and videos. Compatible at launch with iTunes
and iPod for DRM free music and videos by side-loading or via Wifi, when the Zune marketplace launches
in Canada, clients will also be able to purchase music. Clients will also be able use their mobile phone to
watch movies downloaded or rented from Zune on their Xbox
The Pictures hub is a one-stop imagery shop for pictures taken with the device, and access to both a users
or friends Facebook albums or Windows Live pictures. Pictures can be immediately uploaded to various
sites and sent to contacts. The LG Optimus Quantum features a 5 mega-pixel camera with flash, and a HD
video recorder, plus white balance, colour effects and more.
With the Marketplace hub, clients can instantly access Microsofts app store, which includes free and paid
apps and games. Bells innovative applications including GPS Navigator and Remote PVR, which enables
Bell TV clients with PVRs to view and manage their recordings wherever they can access the Internet, can
be downloaded from Marketplace.
Using the Microsoft Office hub, clients can easily access, view and edit documents in Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, OneNote and SharePoint access. Microsoft Outlook 2010 and Exchange is highly secure and
provides a clean layout making it easier for users to read their emails, which are organized into All, Unread
& Urgent. Convenient search capabilities enable clients to easily find a specific email. Windows Phone 7
supports multiple Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync accounts on the phone. To make scheduling their life and
work more simple, clients also receive and respond to meeting requests from their inbox and check their
calendar for conflicts.
Integration of the best of Microsoft from Xbox to Office, coupled with a touch screen and full keyboard,
make the LG Optimus Quantum the perfect device for business users and consumers alike.
