Bell expands pure fibre Internet access to Côte-de-Beaupré and Île d’Orléans

Local broadband rollouts part of Bell’s accelerated capital investment program driving the growth of Canada’s next-generation broadband network infrastructure

MONTRÉAL, August 31, 2021 – Bell today announced the expansion of pure fibre Internet service to homes and businesses in the Saint-Tite-des-Caps in Côte-de-Beaupré as well as Saint-Jean-de-l’Île-d’Orléans and Saint-Laurent-de-l’Île-d’Orléans. Part of Bell’s accelerated capital investment in national next-generation network infrastructure for centres large and small, the expansion program is already bringing all-fibre broadband access to approximately 600  locations in these Île d’Orléans communities and in an additional 500 locations in Saint-Tite-des-Caps by the end of 2021.

“We’re proud to bring our pure fibre connections and world-leading Internet and TV services to households and commercial locations in smaller Québec communities like Île d’Orléans and Côte-de-Beaupré as part of our historic network acceleration program,” said Karine Moses, Bell’s Vice Chair, Québec “Bridging the digital divide is a priority for Bell as we advance how Canadians connect with each other and the world.”

“On behalf of the residents of Saint-Tite-des-Caps, I welcome this announcement from Bell today," said Majella Pichette, Mayor of Saint-Tite-des-Caps. “Having access to fast and reliable Internet service has become paramount and we are happy that Bell is investing and bringing its leading technology to our community.”

“We are very pleased to now have access to Bell's pure fibre Internet in St-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans," said Jean-Claude Pouliot, Mayor of St-Jean-de-l'Île-d'Orléans. “I am confident that access to this technology will provide more opportunities for our residents, businesses and visitors.”

Fully funded by Bell, this broadband expansion program to smaller communities will provide fast and high-capacity 100% fibre connections with Internet download speeds of up to 1.5 Gbps and access to leading Bell services such as Fibe TV. Earlier this year, Bell announced an additional investment of $1.7 billion in capital over the next 2 years to accelerate the rollout of its broadband fibre, 5G and rural networks and help drive Canada’s recovery from the COVID crisis.

This capital acceleration is in addition to the approximately $4 billion in capital Bell typically invests in broadband network infrastructure and expansion each year, and will significantly increase the connections in localities across Canada while creating additional employment as network construction activity speeds up.
