Emissions
In our recent public opinion survey about Corporate Responsibility issues related to the telecommunications industry, respondents were forthcoming about their environmental concerns, most notably in regard to polluting air emissions and waste sent to landfill.
At Bell, air emissions are rigorously managed and minimized through a combination of close monitoring and innovative initiatives. In support of the Kyoto Protocol we have implemented measures that help address climate change and recently established a new policy and key objective to reduce greenhouse gases by 15% by 2012.
Reducing waste to landfill is also a priority. We have had a good track record for waste minimization over the years and continue to raise the bar, targeting an additional 5% in waste diversion by 2008.
