High water usage has a ripple effect on the environment and the economy. The bigger the consumption the greater the stress placed on rivers, lakes and groundwater aquifers, requiring dams and forced flooding, and resulting in serious ecological problems. On the economic side, high water use requires ever-increasing and expensive investments in water infrastructure.
Although our water consumption is relatively small, we recognize the importance of responsible water usage.
Water is used by employees for drinking and sanitary purposes and at some locations to wash company vehicles and to cool the air in our buildings.

In 2005, we continued to monitor water consumption at Bell and at some of our subsidiaries with a view to identifying reduction opportunities. Our goal is to continue to improve water consumption at all levels and to implement monitoring and reporting procedures in all subsidiaries.
