Protecting Customers:
The future is already here, in the youth who will inherit the world. Bell is convinced that we all have a role to play in safely channeling their boundless energy into producing tomorrow's confident, productive and engaged citizens.
Protection of minors:
As the largest supporter of Cybertip.ca after the federal government, Bell is helping safeguard children from being sexually exploited on the Internet. Cybertip.ca provides the public with a mechanism for reporting illegal Internet content and apprehending criminals who victimize children. In addition, the tipline contributes to public education and prevention through its online safety strategies and national public awareness campaigns. Since Cybertip.ca was launched in 2002, 78 people have been arrested and at least 30 children have been removed from abusive environments as a result of tips provided by the public. Bell is fully compliant with the federal law requiring Internet service providers to report suspected Internet child pornography. Cybertip.ca is operated by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
Cybertip.ca also chairs the Canadian Coalition Against Internet Child Exploitation (CCAICE), a voluntary group of organizations who work to reduce child exploitation on the internet. Cleanfeed Canada is an undertaking of CCAICE. This initiative aims to reduce accidental access to child sexual abuse images as well as to discourage those trying to access or distribute child pornography.
Bell also supports awareness and/or education for youth and parents on Internet safety. Bell sponsors:
The Media Awareness Network’s Be Web Aware website, which promotes safe use of the Internet for children and parents
The Parenting the Net Generation workshop, a free online workshop for parents on children’s Internet use
The Missing and Exploited Child Conference, offered annually by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection to provide training for individuals in related fields including law enforcement, social services and counselling.
