Teleglobe Gears Up For Second Season with British American Racing

London, UK , January 24, 2000 - Teleglobe returns as the exclusive secondary
sponsor of British American Racing in 2000, in the second year of its five-year
sponsorship agreement with the Formula One team. British American Racing will
open its season on March 12 in Melbourne, Australia fielding a two-car entry
with former Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneuve, (Quebec, Canada) and
Brazilian Ricardo Zonta as team drivers.

“Our five-year agreement with British American Racing is intended to
demonstrate our deep commitment to developing a true relationship with the race
team,” explains Martin Tiernay, Director, Global Sponsorship at
Teleglobe. “After spending an exciting first season with them, we recognized
that we have a great deal we can offer in our capacity as a global
telecommunications leader.”

The sponsorship agreement ties in with Teleglobe’s overall business development
plans, which are to expand its business and retail operations and increase its
visibility throughout the world. It provides Teleglobe, and its retail
subsidiary Excel Communications, with a major corporate presence within the
British American Racing team - on cars, associated accessories, and the
drivers’ uniforms.

Teleglobe intends to leverage its unique international expertise, technical
knowledge and innovation, through its association with Formula One.

“We fully intend on capitalizing on the sports’ high-tech image and
unparalleled popularity, especially in our desired markets,” says Tiernay. “The
telecommunications industry is technology driven and the sponsorship of British
American Racing provides the perfect platform from which to reinforce our
worldwide marketing effort.”

Teleglobe is among the pioneers in the development of global digital solutions
for Internet Service Providers, content providers, carriers and business
customers. Much more than a network provider, Teleglobe has responded
successfully to the increasingly complex and rapidly changing demands for
bandwidth-hungry applications, remaining well ahead of the curve in quality
while breaking new ground through innovative approaches to data services.

"Teleglobe and British American Racing’s partnership has all the elements of a
world-class success story," asserts Tiernay. "This team is a perfect match for
us. Like Teleglobe they are innovators in their industry. They tolerate risk
and they reward success. It is a philosophy that works and a formula that
builds champions.”

British American Racing unveiled its new livery at a press conference in London
earlier today.

"Certainly we are very excited about British American Racing's direction for
2000,” says Tiernay. “The team's new partnership with an industry leader like
Honda should make for some very interesting racing. We also understand that pre-
season engine testing has been quite successful and that they are very positive
about its potential this year. We are very proud to be associated with such a
dynamic organization. We certainly look forward to joining them on the
