Bell again named a leading employer in Montréal

Québec's largest communications company named to Montréal's Top Employers List for the second year in a row

MONTREAL, Feb. 5, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Bell is proud to be named one of Montréal's Top Employers for 2014 in the annual awards organized by editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, a Mediacorp Canada publication.

"Bell is very pleased to again be recognized as an employer that offers a diverse mix of career opportunities and a supportive workplace for team members," said Bernard le Duc, Executive Vice President, Corporate Services for Bell and BCE. "Receiving a Top Employer award is much-appreciated recognition of the Bell team's contributions here in Montréal and across the country."

Mediacorp cited a variety of reasons for recognizing Bell as a top employer in Québec's largest city, including the company's significant investment in training and professional development and its leadership in workplace mental health through the Bell Let's Talk initiative.

"As a leading contributor to Québec's technological, economic and social prosperity, Bell is proud to support our team as they bring the best network technologies and communications products the world has to offer to our consumer and business customers," said Martine Turcotte, Bell's Vice Chair of Québec.

As one of Montreal's Top Employers for 2014, Bell was further recognized for:

  • Comprehensive professional development, a broad range of in-house and online training programs, apprenticeship opportunities and tuition subsidies for job-related courses.
  • Significant investment in Montréal community organizations and strong support for employee participation in volunteer programs.
  • A campus environment that offers an employee lounge, cafeteria with healthy menus and state-of-the-art fitness facility with subsidized membership.

With more than 18,000 team members in Québec and 12,000 retirees, Bell also works to reflect its employees' values and interests within their local communities. That includes $25 million in sponsorships every year for major cultural events such as Les FrancoFolies and Montréal en lumière and substantial investments in mental health care and research, including with Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal, the Rivière-des-prairies Hospital, the Jewish General Hospital Foundation and Montréal's Douglas-Bell Brain Bank.

Now entering its 9th year, Montréal's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers, a Mediacorp Canada publication. This special designation recognizes the Montréal-area employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work. Employers are evaluated on 8 key areas: physical workplace; work atmosphere & social; health, financial & family benefits; vacation & time off; employee communications; performance management; training & skills development; community involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
