- Guy Marier to lead customer service and productivity improvement drives

MONTREAL,Oct. 11 2001 --Bell Canada today announced that career
executive Guy Marier, 53, has been appointed Executive Vice-President in
charge of the company's customer service and productivity improvement drives.
    Formerly President of Bell Québec, Mr. Marier has an extensive knowledge
of Bell's operations and the opportunities for productivity improvements as
Bell becomes a truly web-enabled company. As part of his new responsibilities,
Mr. Marier will lead a number of customer service initiatives, including the
introduction of a single bill, designed to streamline and improve the ways in
which the company interacts with its seven million customers. Mr. Marier
remains Chairman of the Boards of Bell Canada subsidiaries Telebec, Northern
Telephone and Connexim.
    Josée Goulet, 39, has been appointed President of Bell Québec, replacing
Mr. Marier. Ms. Goulet, formerly President of Bell ActiMedia, has been with
Bell for her entire career and will become the company's senior executive in
Quebec. Marc Tellier, 33, former Senior Vice-President, Partnership
Development at Bell Canada, will become President of Bell ActiMedia. Mr.
Tellier was also previously the President of Sympatico-Lycos.
