BCE Appoints Senior Executives at Teleglobe and Bell Canada
MONTREAL, May 17 /CNW/ - BCE Inc today announced the appointment of new
executives at Teleglobe and Bell Canada.

TELEGLOBE COMMUNICATIONS CORPORATION EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
Joining the executive team of Terence Jarman, President and CEO of
Teleglobe Communications Corporation are:
Stewart ``Stu'' Verge has been appointed President, Global Operations
where he will oversee technology planning, network implementation and
operations, information systems and technology, as well as purchasing and
facilities. He was previously President and CEO, Bell Atlantic Global
Networks, Inc., a subsidiary of Bell Atlantic and he has extensive experience
developing new businesses and implementing network infrastructures at Bell
Atlantic and Bell Canada.
Lisa Donnan has been appointed Chief Marketing Officer and will direct
marketing strategy, product development and management, marketing
communications and advertising, and public relations. She has extensive
experience in the telecommunications and Internet industry, including eight
years at MCI. She was recently a key executive at a leading provider of mobile
data networking and technology, and prior to that, she was Vice President of
Marketing at Bell Nexxia, Bell Canada's broadband and IP company.
Marc Bouchard has been appointed President, North American Markets and
Corporate Development where he will lead development and expansion of
Teleglobe's wholesale and retail business in North America markets as well as
direct Teleglobe's efforts in the areas of mergers, acquisitions and
alliances. He was previously President and CEO, Bell Nexxia where he oversaw
the general direction of the company and spearheaded new growth initiatives.
Prior to that, he was Chief Operating Officer at fONOROLA, following ten years
with Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc. where he held a series of increasingly
senior positions.
Serge Fortin has been appointed President, Global Markets, where he will
provide marketing, sales and business development leadership for markets
outside North America. Mr. Fortin has been a key player in BCE companies for
many years, including Bell Canada International and most recently Bell
Actimedia, where he was President. He also previously held several executive
positions at Teleglobe from 1993 to 1996.
Mark J. Eckhout has been appointed Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Eckhout
has experience in finance, treasury, operational accounting and budgeting, and
strategic planning. He has held various financial leadership positions at
Ameritech and he was previously Senior Vice President, Finance & CFO, Bell
Mobility.
BELL CANADA EXECUTIVE APPOINTMENTS
Joining the executive team of John Sheridan, Vice-Chair, Bell Canada are:
Josée Goulet has been appointed President of Bell ActiMedia, succeeding
Serge Fortin. Ms. Goulet has extensive experience in sales, product management
and new media and is currently President of Bell Distribution Inc., the parent
of Bell World stores.
Randy Reynolds has been appointed President of Bell Nexxia and will lead
Bell Canada's expansion into Western Canada. Randy was previously President of
Bell Ontario and President and CEO of Bell Mobility.
Terry Mosey will become President of Bell Ontario, replacing Mr.
Reynolds. Mr. Mosey has held numerous executive positions within Bell Canada
most recently as Senior Vice-President, Business Sales and Services.
EDITOR'S NOTE: BCE currently owns approximately 23 per cent of Teleglobe
Inc. through Bell Canada. On February 15, 2000, BCE announced a
definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares it does not
currently own of Teleglobe for approximately C$9.65 billion (US$6.66
billion). The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of this
year.
