18th Annual Bell Celebrity Classic Raises $200,000 for Toronto's SickKids Foundation

2006 donation total exceeds fundraising goal for world-class children's
    hospital

    TORONTO, Ontario, July 26 2006 --
Bell Canada announced today that
its 18th annual Bell Celebrity Classic charity golf tournament raised $200,000
for SickKids Foundation - part of Bell's five-year $10 million commitment to
SickKids Foundation announced in 2005.
The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, affectionately known as
SickKids, is one of the largest paediatric health and scientific research
centres in the world. Approximately 50,000 children are treated in the
emergency centre each year. Some 15,000 children a year are admitted to the
hospital itself, while its 100 clinics see 300,000 patients annually. In
addition to treating Toronto-based patients, SickKids cares for children from
all over Canada and from more than 40 countries each year.
"Bell is committed, as a company and as a team of individual employees,
to be engaged in the communities we live and work. Bell's Connected to
Communities initiative is squarely focused on our belief that Canada's future
is directly tied to opportunities we make possible today - ensuring that
children have the means to become all they can be," said Renato Discenza,
Senior Vice President, Bell Canada. "This year we are very excited to
contribute $200,000 to SickKids Foundation in support of its work with
children, and we look forward to our ongoing opportunities to increase our
support with events such as the upcoming 2006 Bell Celebrity Gala this fall."
In January 2005, Bell unveiled the 'Connected to Communities' program,
committing to raise community investments that encourage community economic
development and programs that benefit children and youth by 40% - from $18 to
$26 million - by 2007. Core programs under the Connected to Communities banner
include Children's Hospitals, Youth Enrichment, Cyber Safety, and Community
Economic Development.
"Bell Canada's on-going commitment to SickKids Foundation is key to our
ability to continue the life-saving research and care that makes SickKids a
leader in children's health," said Michael O'Mahoney, President of SickKids
Foundation. "As one of SickKids most significant corporate partners, we've
seen first hand the importance of Bell's strong corporate leadership in the
area of children and youth outreach."
The Bell Celebrity Classic, held in Markham on July 25th, was attended by
over 500 guests and over 100 celebrities, representing an unprecedented
gathering of top names in sports, film, television and entertainment.
Celebrities at The Bell Celebrity Classic included Mario Lemieux, Alfonso
Ribeiro, Marcus Allen, Lawrence Taylor, Louis Gossett Jr., Bode Miller, The
Tragically Hip, Doug Gilmour, Mike "Pinball" Clemons, Damon Allen, Curtis
Joseph, Catriona Le May Doan, Spud Webb, Jamaal Magloire, Morris Peterson,
