Bell Canada and Wesley Clover companies to launch Bell Innovation Centre (Advanced Solutions) New centre will bring to market advanced, customized business and
industry-focused solutions
MONTREAL,Feb. 14 2005 --
Bell Canada and a number of Wesley
Clover companies held by Terry Matthews announced today the creation of an
advanced solutions innovation centre to collaboratively develop vertical
industry advanced communications solutions for the small and medium-size
business (SMB), large enterprise and government markets. This new facility,
which will be located in Kanata, Ontario, will focus primarily on the
accelerated development of complete technology and telecom solutions for a
wide range of customers in the retail, wholesale, healthcare, hospitality,
manufacturing, transportation, and business services.

and leadership, Bell and Wesley Clover companies will be able to quickly bring
to market end-to-end solutions that allow Canadian businesses and government
to increase their efficiency and competitiveness," said Karen Sheriff,
President Small and Medium Business, Bell Canada. "This latest initiative will
also enhance Bell's ability, as the trusted technology advisor, to offer SMBs
a unique opportunity to participate in the development of advanced solutions
that will meet their needs."
The Bell Innovation Centre (Advanced Solutions) will provide the ideal
environment for customer demonstration, accelerated prototyping, solution
integration facilitating early customer involvement and feedback, testing and
enhancement of security solutions, hosted applications, and communications
over IP (Internet Protocol). The Centre will also serve as an incubator for
the development of solutions for the government market.
"By testing solutions with customers early in the development cycle, we
will speed up the delivery cycle and enhance the customer experience as a
whole," said Terry Matthews, Chairman, Wesley Clover International
Corporation.
The Bell Innovation Centre (Advanced Solutions) is expected to be
operational by the second quarter of 2005. Ubiquity Software, NewHeights
Software, Mitel Networks, March Networks and Bridgewater Systems, as well as
other Wesley Clover companies, are participating in this project.
Since September, 2003, Bell has launched a nationwide network of
innovation centres for the development and testing of services and
applications as well as information sharing. The Bell Innovation Centre
(Advanced Solutions) is the first centre to focus specifically on advanced
solutions for industry verticals.
