New CFCNplus.ca Site to Corral Breaking News for Calgarians CALGARY, AB,Nov. 20 2001 --Calgary CTV affiliate CFCN has launched, in cooperation with Bell Globemedia Interactive, a Web site (www.cfcnplus.ca) that will help Calgarians live, work, play and find what they're looking for on-line. The initiative will see CTV affiliate CFCN partner with calgaryplus.ca in a content sharing arrangement that will offer Calgarians a destination that provides breaking news plus current and comprehensive on-line information and services about local arts and entertainment, weather, news, community information and much more in and around Calgary. "This really is an exciting project for CFCN and Calgarians" said Patricia McDougall, Vice-President and General Manager, CFCN Television. "Because of our partnership with Bell Globemedia Interactive, we'll now be able to offer our viewers local news in an on-line format. Viewers have come to expect the best from us in broadcast news, now we're in a position to give them the best in on-line coverage as well. We feel it's a tremendous way to serve our community one more time." There is a high demand for on-line content in Calgary, with 65 per cent of Calgarians having Internet access. On average, 55 per cent of Canadians are on-line, proving that Calgarians are more connected.
