TSN bolsters hockey line-up, adds analyst Pierre McGuire Former NHL coach, radio broadcaster joins TSN; Hockey programming
faces-off Oct. 4
TORONTO,Sept. 28 2000 --With the NHL regular season only one week away
TSN has further bolstered its top-notch hockey line-up, adding analyst and
former NHL head coach Pierre McGuire.
Viewers will see McGuire in a variety of hockey-related programs on TSN
and on TSN's website. His roles will include:
- Joining host Darren Dutchyshen on a new hockey program, That's Hockey
2, Nov. 1;
- Studio analyst alongside Dave Hodge and Bob McKenzie on 44 regional
Molson Canadian Toronto Maple Leafs broadcasts (on TSN and local CTV);
- Playoff analyst for Molson That's Hockey with Gord Miller;
- Contributing a hockey column to TSN's website, tsn.ca.
"Adding an analyst with the hockey experience, knowledge and credibility
of Pierre further solidifies TSN's position as the viewer's choice for hockey
news and information," says Keith Pelley, TSN's Senior Vice-President of
Programming and Production. "The addition of Pierre further enhances a hockey
broadcast team that is already the best in the business."
McGuire has spent the last three years covering hockey for a number of
media outlets. He was a radio colour commentator on Montreal Canadiens
broadcasts and worked as an analyst on the Habs This Week television program.
In addition, he is a special contributor to Sports Illustrated, writing
for the U.S.-based magazine's hockey section.
Before his work as a broadcaster and journalist, McGuire worked behind
the bench in the NHL. His resume includes performing various roles (including
scout, bench assistant and defense coach) for the Pittsburgh Penguins between
1990-1992.
From 1992-1994, McGuire was an assistant coach, assistant GM and
eventually head coach of the Hartford Whalers. At the time, McGuire was the
youngest head coach in the NHL.
Molson That's Hockey with Gord Miller Season Preview Oct. 4
TSN drops the puck on another hockey season with the season preview
edition of Molson That's Hockey on Oct. 4.
Gord Miller returns as host of the program for another season. The
preview show will review post-season roster moves and news for viewers while
setting the stage for the NHL season opener featuring Colorado and Dallas.
In addition, TSN hockey Insider Bob McKenzie will give viewers the inside
scoop with his thoughts on the upcoming season and the players and teams to
watch.
With two separate hockey programs devoted to hockey this season, complete

international hockey and regional NHL action, TSN boasts Canada's top line-up
for hockey news, action and information.
