Robert Hurst Promoted to Senior Vice-President, British Columbia and General Manager of Vancouver Television

TORONTO,Sept. 27 2000 --Trina McQueen, Executive Vice-President of CTV

"Robert's appointment comes at an important time for VTV. After the
successful launch and performance as an independent station, VTV will move
next year to become a full CTV affiliate. This will mean a significant
strengthening of VTV's news operation; as well as preparing for major relaunch
in September. Robert is an excellent team builder and journalist, and he's
very competitive; and those are the key qualities for VTV in the next years,"
said McQueen.
On his appointment, Hurst said: "Television stations serve their
communities best with the highest quality programming, especially news
programming. I'm excited to be a part of VTV's energetic and dynamic team and
I'm committed to serving the growing and diverse communities in Vancouver and
across British Columbia."

posted to six Canadian and international bureaus. Hurst is the only Canadian
correspondent to have been assigned to three major capitals - Washington,

In 1994, Hurst returned to Canada and held numerous senior positions at
CTV News including Executive Producer of W-FIVE, Chief News Editor and
Vice-President. In 1995, he drafted the application for CTV News 1 (now CTV
Newsnet). For the past three months, Hurst has been Acting Senior
Vice-President of CTV News.
Hurst is a six-time Gemini Award nominee, including three Best Reportage
nominations for his stories on Central America, Haiti and Russia. The New York
Film Festival awarded Hurst a Gold Medal for his 1983 documentary, China
