What is a podcast?

Podcasting allows you to listen to audio content, such as a speech or announcement, on your computer or portable audio player, at your convenience.

BCE.ca provides podcasts in MP3 audio file format that you can either listen to immediately or download to your computer and listen to later, even when you are no longer online. To listen to an MP3 file, you need an audio player, available for download free of charge on the Internet (e.g. Windows Media Player, Real Media or iTunes).

By subscribing to a BCE.ca podcast, you will automatically receive the latest audio content as soon as it is posted on the site. All you need is podcasting software (e.g. iTunes or Juice), which will automatically monitor new podcast files posted on BCE.ca and download them to your computer.

How to download a podcast

To save a copy of the audio file (podcast), click on the "Download" button. Specify the folder in which you want to store the file (e.g.: My Documents).

How to subscribe to a podcast

  1. Install podcasting software if you don't already have it, e.g. iTunes or Juice
  2. Identify the podcast you wish to subscribe to.
  3. Right click on the "BCE podcast" link (in the top right corner) and select "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut." This copies the URL of the selected podcast.

    • Juice – Click on the "Subscriptions" tab, then click on the green and white plus icon ("Add new feed") and paste the podcast URL into the blank URL field.
    • To receive a podcast regularly and automatically, select this function in your podcasting software. (E.g. iTunes: in the "Edit" menu, select "Preferences" and click on the "Podcast" tab; Juice: in the "Tools" menu, select "Scheduler.")
  5. You can listen to your favourite podcast on your portable MP3 player (e.g. iPod) by synchronizing it with your podcasting software (e.g. Juice or iTunes).
