Other Community Investment

At Bell, we believe being an outstanding corporate citizen is about using our financial resources and the expertise of our employees to invest in the communities we serve. Bell employees have been giving back to communities across Canada since the company was created most than 130 years ago. In 2009, BCE directly contributed $13 million to charitable initiatives, including matching employee donations to the United Way/Centraide and grants to a range of charities where our employees volunteer.

Our people care
BCE and Bell employ some of the best-performing people in the business. Our policies and practices aim to attract, retain and inspire employees who demonstrate leadership, innovative thought and commitment — people who care about what they do. Not surprisingly, our employees' sense of commitment spills over into their personal lives, generating an abundance of goodwill, generosity and community service.

Bell is proud of its long-standing tradition of giving back to communities. We are even prouder of the individual achievements of the thousands of Bell employees and retirees who have given their time, their knowledge and their money to so many causes. These unsung heroes have made a real difference in the lives of Canadians.

Employees should refer to the «In The Community» section of Bellnet for more information about the Employee Giving Program and the Volunteer Grant for charitable and sports organizations.

Retirees may find all relevant information about these programs at www.intouch.bell.ca

In 2009, Bell Canada and Bell Aliant employees and pensioners committed over $ 2.1 million in charitable gifts and logged nearly 429,000 hours in volunteer time.

Bell's longstanding financial support and partnership with the United Way/ Centraide helps fund the vital social services that build healthy communities. We are also proud to be an important part of the United Way's annual fundraising campaign through our employee giving programs and local fundraising events, as well as our corporate donation.

While Bell's Community Investment strategy is squarely focused on mental health, as Canada’s largest Internet Service provider, our Community Investment strategy also encompasses ensuring the internet is safe for all users, especially our children. We have invested in a variety of programs which reflect our commitment to Cyber Safety.
