A lasting legacy

Every component of Bell’s investment, whether it’s a newly constructed cell tower or a newly installed fibre link, is part of Bell’s legacy to British Columbians. Bell’s Olympic and Paralympic communications solution will increase connectivity in local communities so businesses can move information faster and farther in our global economy. Bell is also working with First Nations and rural communities to maximize the legacy use of the company’s broadband access corridor between Vancouver and Whistler.

Bell is committed to working with VANOC to achieve positive economic and social results for the people and communities involved in the 2010 Winter Games. For example, Bell gives priority to local purchasing. By buying local, Bell is encouraging diversity and supporting small business development in the supply chain.

In addition, Bell is contributing to the local economy by hiring local talent and innovating with local companies, supporting the needs of organizations and individuals in the city's Downtown Eastside, and enabling community-level economic development funding to seed locally-led projects.
