Mr. Sweeney joined Bell in May of 2006 and has spent his entire career in telecommunications. In 1973, he joined Motorola after earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. During his 29 year career with Motorola, Mr. Sweeney held a number of key management positions including VP and General Manager of Motorola Canada in 1993-94. Mr. Sweeney concluded his career at Motorola as VP and Division General Manager of a worldwide Cellular Services Division.

Following Motorola, Mr. Sweeney was President of Kaval Wireless Solutions, a telecom startup. Under his leadership Kaval was successfully sold to Powerwave Technologies in 2005.

Mr. Sweeney has participated in various educational programs at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management and is a past Board member of the Junior Engineering Technical Society.
