On October 6, 2010, Bell announced that Mr. Oosterman would also assume leadership of Bell Residential Services (BRS), the Bell business unit offering Bell TV, Bell Internet, the Sympatico online portal and Bell Home Phone. The appointment is effective January 1, 2011, when current BRS President Kevin Crull departs to assume the position of Chief Operating Officer at CTVglobemedia.
Mr. Oosterman began his career in telecommunications as an executive with Bell Cellular Distribution Services Inc. which became the largest sales agent for Bell Mobility’s predecessor company Bell Cellular.
With more than two decades in the telecom industry, Mr. Oosterman was also instrumental in the national buildout of two fast-growing wireless carriers, Clearnet and Telus Mobility. As Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Clearnet Communications, he developed the distinctive and highly successful Clearnet brand and nature imagery still used by Telus Corporation today. Telus acquired Clearnet in 2000 for $6.6 billion, after which Mr. Oosterman served as Executive Vice-President, Sales and Marketing for Telus Mobility and Chief Marketing Officer for Telus Corporation.
Mr. Oosterman holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and is a Director of the Foundation Fighting Blindness – Canada and of the Toronto International Film Festival.
