George Cope is leading the transformation of Canada’s largest communications company into an efficient customer-focused competitor, based on a strategy of enhanced service capability, significant broadband network investments and a high-performance team culture.
With industry-leading capital investments of more than $3.5 billion in 2012, BCE launched a world-leading 4G Long-term Evolution mobile network, a mobile HSPA+ network and enhanced broadband fibre infrastructure to deliver advanced television and Internet services.
Mr. Cope is a seasoned Canadian telecommunications executive who had served in public-company CEO roles in the industry for more than 15 years prior to joining Bell in 2005. He has earned a reputation as an innovative telecom strategist and builder of high-performance teams, successfully launching four next-generation Canadian digital networks during his career.
Mr. Cope holds an Honours Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario and serves on the Advisory Board of the university’s Richard Ivey School of Business. Mr. Cope received an honorary doctorate in business from his alma mater in 2012 and is a past recipient of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 Award.
Mr. Cope is also a director of Bank of Montreal and Bell Canada and Chair of the Board of Bell Aliant Inc.Back to Executive team
