George Cope

George Cope is leading the transformation of Canada’s largest communications company into an efficient customer-focused competitor, based on a strategy of enhanced service capability, significant broadband network investments and a high-performance team culture.
With industry-leading capital investments of approximately $6 billion in 2009 and 2010, Bell has launched a world-leading new mobile HSPA+ network and enhanced broadband fibre infrastructure to deliver advanced Television and Internet services.
Mr. Cope is a seasoned Canadian telecommunications executive who had served in public-company CEO roles in the industry for more than 15 years prior to joining Bell in 2005. He has earned a reputation as an innovative telecom strategist and builder of high-performance teams, successfully launching three next-generation Canadian digital networks during his career.
Mr. Cope holds an HBA (Honors Business Administration) degree from the University of Western Ontario and serves on the Advisory Board of the university’s Richard Ivey School of Business.
Mr. Cope is also a director of Bank of Montreal, BCE, Bell Canada and Chair of the Board of Bell Aliant Inc.
