The Source

Charles Brown is an innovative business leader with more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunication and cable communications industries.
Known for thinking outside the box, with a strong reputation for finding new opportunities to expand businesses, Charles became Executive Vice President, Strategic Initiatives for Bell in early 2009. In this role, he led several key initiatives for BCE, in particular being Bell’s lead executive in charge of providing full telecommunication services to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
In May 2009, Charles began to oversee Bell’s acquisition of The Source and later was appointed Chairman of The Board. In February 2011, he was promoted to President, The Source, overseeing the operations and strategic integration of the company's more than 700 retail locations across Canada.
Charles began his career with Bell in 1980 as a sales representative and held management positions in marketing and business development with Bell Mobility.
In 2006, Charles became President, Bell West where he was soon recognized for his exceptional leadership and strong financial results. That led to the 2008 expansion of his role to include Bell’s SMB business unit, consolidating Bell’s small and medium commercial customers in Ontario and Québec with those in Western Canada. Charles later assisted with the strategic integration of Bell’s SMB practice with the Enterprise market to formally launch Bell Business Markets, a key initiative for Bell to offer Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to Canada’s business sector.
In addition to his responsibilities with The Source and Bell, Charles also sits on various boards and executive committees, including the boards of Axia NetMedia, of Northwestel and the McMichael Canadian Art Collection’s Board of Trustees.
Charles has a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
